Well ladies the time of year we dread most is finally upon us, and you don’t have to be a plus sized women to run for cover at the thought of wearing a swimsuit.  It may be too late to loose those extra pounds you may have been trying to lose but it is not too late to find the perfect swim suit that will make you look your best.  Life is too short to spend it hiding.  So stop hiding, and start living today!  Make the best of what you have right now by finding just the right suit to flatter your figure!

All women are not created equally.  We all have different body shapes, and with those body shapes come areas we wish we could improve.  It doesn’t matter if you are a size 2 or 22 you probably have an area that you are uncomfortable with. Most women don’t even have to think about it.  When asked which area they are most uncomfortable with they can shout it out in an instant.  Every woman knows exactly what keeps her from going out in public in a bathing suit, and for every woman it’s different.

No matter what your body shape, there is a figure fixing swim suit just for you!  This year there are a lot of new suits that will make going out in public much easier to “bare”.  What’s nice is that when it comes to swim wear all styles are in, so dressing for your body shape is the thing to do this year.  The key to doing this is to show off your best features, and cover up the parts of your body that make you feel the most uncomfortable, and emphasize your positive features, and yes you do have some great features.

An important thing to keep in mind is that confidence plays a key part in how great you look and feel.  If you don’t feel confident it will show.  So just keep this in mind when wearing your new suit.

Before you can find your perfect suit, you must determine which body shape you are.  If you are not sure, you will need to explore the "what's my shape" page before going any further.

Here are some things to keep in mind when looking for a new swim suit for your body shape.

Swimwear for the Pear Shaped Woman

Your “biggest” challenge is that your bottom half is usually one to two sizes bigger than your top, so your bottom tends to be your problem area.

Your goal will be to have a more proportionate look.  You will do this by minimizing your hips and thighs while giving the appearance of a more balanced top.

Look for separates, more than ever before this is easier to do.  You have great shoulders and a nice back, so show them off with a long lined tankini in a lighter, brighter shade or bold print.  This can be worn as a swim top, or as a halter top that can be worn any where.   Wear it with a pair of pants or even a skirt with your bottoms underneath, and you can go any where anytime and be ready for a dip in the pool at a moments notice.

Another great item is the suit with a bubble skirt.   If your thighs are your biggest problem, you have to more options than just a swim dress. However swim dresses are cutier than ever!  Try finding a bold print tank suit with a bubble skirt. The bubble skirt has a low waist that helps show off your best features while camouflaging your hips and thighs providing you with the right coverage exactly where you want it!

Swimwear for the Apple Shaped Woman

Your “biggest” challenge is your midsection.  This means that your top half is larger than your bottom, making you top half your problem area.

Your goal will be to have a slimmer top and a more defined waist.  You will do this by accenting and showing off your great legs and thighs while giving the appearance of a more balanced top.

Look for swimsuits that have a pleated surplice bodice with molded -cups for extra support for your larger breast.  A suit with extra tummy control will be another plus.  Try a swimsuit that cuts straight across the top or a bandeau-style with halter strings for a minimizing effect.  The new skirtini is a great suit for you.  A great feature of this suit is that the sides of the skirt are adjustable so you can control how much leg you want to show.  Pull it up when you want to show off more of your great legs, and then pull it down when you are away from the beach.

Swimwear for the Rectangular Shaped Woman

Women with a straighter figure really have it made in the shade, or on the beach, or wherever they decide to hang out. They can wear just about anything they want.   The challenge they have would to be creating a more curvaceous figure.  Look for swimsuits that have a form fitting waist and a soft cup bra. If you want to wear a one piece look for a waist that has a darker middle.  This will make your waist appear smaller.  Another great look for you is the tank style suits.  These will accent your mid line that draws attention to the smallest part of the body, you can choose to wear a regular bottom or boy short and either will look great on you.  If you want to draw attention to the feature you feel is your best, do this by wearing bold bright colors in that area.

Swimwear for the Hour-glass Shaped Woman

Women with an hour glass shape is said to have the perfect womanly form.  Many believe that this is the sexiest and most desired shapes. Your upper half is well in proportion to your bottom half, and you have curves in all of the right places.  People are drawn to your sexiness and your curves. Your body was made for a two piece suit.  This is even true if you are a plus size hour glass.  Contrary to what some people believe, you do not have to be a size 8 or smaller to wear a 2 piece swim suit.  Women with fuller figures can bare their tummies too.  If you have a fuller figure and want to wear a 2 piece swim suit, go for it!  There are some modest two piece suits just for you.  One such suit is called “The Ruched Bikini” and it is great because the wearer has complete control on how much tummy they bare.  It can be rolled down for the more daring, and pulled up past the belly button for those not as brave.  It also has a more coverage and support for your fuller bust.
