Lusciously Long
Your face is characteristically similar to the oval; however your face is slightly longer and just a bit narrower. Unlike those with a round face, someone with a long face should wear hairstyles that add width to your face and bangs to help shorten the overall length. Wearing your hair in long curls or waves is the best way to accomplish this. Doing this creates fullness and visually diminishes the length. If your hair is straight, use layers at eye and cheekbone level to add texture and fullness. If short hair is what you desire, this is fine as long the volume is at the sides of your face instead of up above, a wedge cut or short chin length wavy bob will look great.
Do's and Don'ts to keep in mind:
-
Wear styles that add width to your narrow face
-
Wearing a side part with bangs swept over is a great look
-
Bangs cut straight across or even wispy will visually shorten the length of your face
-
Chin length bobs, blunt cuts, and curls will visually ad width to your narrow face
-
Don't wear your hair long and straight, this will only emphasize your narrow face
-
Don't wear styles that frame your face, this will make your face look even narrower
Celebrities with long slender faces include:
Liv Tyler, pictured above
Meg Ryan: She is beautiful no matter what she does with her hair, but styles with a little more fullness and bangs make her face look less narrow.
Whitney Houston: Notice how Whitney has soft bangs, this helps give the illusion of a shorter face, she keeps volume on top at a minimum and the fullness around her sides is perfect.
