Round

With a round face you have softer angles for your jaw and brow lines.  Your face is almost as wide as it is long. Your goal will be to make your face appear thinner and longer.  So if you think about balance, you will want your glasses to be angular and narrow.  The narrower glasses will do the trick of making your face appear longer.  The angular/rectangular glasses will be a great contrast with your rounder softer facial features.  Glasses with brow bars will pull the eye upward and give the illusion of a longer face.

Frame Suggestions: cateye, narrow rectangular

Oval

If you are one of the few lucky ovals out there, you have it made in your shades. Because your face is well proportioned and already balanced, the sky is the limit for you. Let you personality dictate which style of glassed you prefer.  If you are wild and crazy use your glasses to make a statement.  If you are quiet and shy you may opt for a more sophisticated look.  If you would like a little bit of contrast to your oval face then you may want to opt of angular glasses rather than rounder ones.

Frame Suggestions: Let your personality decide.  Just don't get carried away!

Long

Your face is longer than it is wide.  So our goal for balance is to make your face appear shorter and a little wider, so you will want fames that have top-to-bottom depth.   Your best bet would be to stay away from the long and narrow rectangular glasses, and select glasses with low triangular shapes and strong horizontal lines.  To help create the illusion of width look for glasses that has decorative or contrasting temples.

If your nose also happens to be long, you may also consider looking for glasses that have a low bridge.  Low or dropped temples can also help a long face appear shorter.

Frame Suggestions: wider squarer glasses, wrap around

Heart Shape

Facial features that give this shape away are its wide forehead and small jaw line.  To find balance, we need to minimize the appearance of width.  Frames that will help you accomplish this are frames that are  light colors or even rimless frames. You can get away with round and angular glasses if you avoid glasses that are wider at the top such a aviators, these only mimic your face shape. You will also want to avoid glasses that just have the frames at the top. (see middle picture for round)  This will only draw attention to the widest part of your face.

Frame Suggestions: oval, rectangular, rimless

Square

With a square face you have stronger angles for your jaw and brow lines.  Your face is almost as wide as it is long. Your goal will be to make your face appear thinner and longer while at the same time reduce the appearance of strong angles. So if you think about balance, you will want your glasses to be curvy and narrow.  The narrower glasses will do the trick of making your face appear longer.  The classic oval glasses will be a great contrast with your squarer facial features.  Glasses with brow bars will pull the eye upward and give the illusion of a longer face.

 Frame Suggestions: narrow oval frames

Rectangular

Angular faces have stronger angles like the square shape, but you have a longer face shape. Your goal for balance will be to look for frames that have top-to-bottom depth to help with the illusion of a shorter face.  If your face is also narrow help create the illusion of width by looking for glasses that has decorative or contrasting temples. Like the square you will want to look for glasses that are rounder and have some curve to them to help soften your appearance.

Frame Suggestions: wider circular frames, aviators
