Celebrity hairstyles, this is where most of us get our inspiration for our look.  Celebrities also lend inspiration for finding the right shoes, handbags, and other fashion accessories including eye glasses.

This site is all about shaping your style.  We've already talked about the do's and don'ts of dressing your body shape.  Now it's time to get into the do's and don'ts of finding the right hair styles for your face shape.  We will even get into finding the right styles of glasses for your face shape.  Yes, even if you don't wear glasses to see, you should always wear glasses to protect your eyes from the harmful rays of the sun.

It is fine to copy celebrity hairstyles, and even their eye glasses, if these are the right look for your face shape.  Not everyone looks great with Jennifer Aniston's Sedu hairstyle.  There are things that need to be considered before running to your favorite salon with a picture of your favorite celebrity's hairstyle in your hand.  I'm sure you have heard the term "bad hair day."  What's even worse is a bad hair month!  If you do get a cut that is wrong for your face shape, there are a few options.  You can get it cut shorter and keep your fingers crossed, wait it out while it's growing, or buy a couple of really cute hats. Another option that is popular today is hair extensions.

Celebrity hairstyles can even turn out bad occasionally.  This usually happens when they are not taking their face shape into consideration.

Believe it or not there are some celebrity hairstyles that would look better on some celebrities than others, and if that is true for some of the most beautiful faces in Hollywood, then you know that's going to hold true for you as well.

When looking at a celebrity's hairstyle, you need to consider two important factors:

  • The first is the texture of the celebrity's hair and your own. Are they similar?  If your favorite celebrity's hair is thick and full of body, and yours is thin, and fine, then it's best to look somewhere else for your inspiration.
  • The other important factor that should always be taken into consideration is the celebrities face shape.  Is it shaped similar to your face shape?  When it comes to selecting the right style for your face shape, it's all about balance, and your hairstyle is the best way to do this.

So the first thing you need to do is determine your face shape.

It can be difficult for some to determine their face shape, so the first thing I'm going to do is give you a few ways to help you figure it out.

  • One of the easiest ways is to pull all your hair away from your face, then using a  dry erase marker, eyebrow or lip pencil, or a bar of soap will also do,  look in the mirror and trace the shape of your face.  This is easier to do with one eye closed.  When you are finished step back and take a look, it is usually pretty obvious.
  • The other thing you can do is measure across your face starting with your cheek bones, the write this number down. You will also need to measure the width of your jaw line, and the widest part of your forehead this is usually right above your eyebrows. Write these numbers down too.The last thing you will need to do is to measure your face vertically starting with your hairline and ending at your chin, and write that number down.

Use the following guides to help you determine your face shape.

         Oval

  • Your face length is about to 1 ½ longer than the width
  • There is only a slight difference between the jaw line and the temple
  • Your chin and hairline are gently rounded with no hard angles making them appear equal in size

          Round

  • There is little difference between the width and length of your face.
  • Gentle angles at your hairline and jawline

          Long

  • You have a narrow face, the length is more than 1 1/2 time the width
  • Also curves gently,  looks like a stretched-out oval

             Heart Shape
  • Your face is widest at the temples
  • Your jaw line is narrower than your forehead
  • You have a smaller more delicate chin

          Square/Rectangle
  •  You will have stronger angles at your hair and jaw line.
